Members of the Life Guard serve as the most trusted soldiers in the Commonwealth. They are tasked with the protection of the Royal Family, and, if necessary, to sacrifice their life for that of their charge.

Most often recruited from the ranks of the Royal Marines, these courageous officers commit themselves to the ultimate sacrifice as a requirement of their post. For this reason, they are the only members of the military exempt from receiving the Order of the Anzatan Sun, the Commonwealth's highest award for bravery.

The Life Guard serves under the Crown and Minister of Defence directly, and retains ultimate authority during any crisis that threatens the Royal Family.
